What stories are left behind in the darkness as the image returns to the light?
Spencer Rowell is a lens-based artist, psychoanalytic psychotherapist and publisher.
His camera has been a tool of communication for over fifty years and has become a valuable companion to his more recent studies in psychoanalysis. These two main areas of practice and that of the bringing the image into language is the subject of his doctoral research: An Exploration of Pathography within Phototherapy, An Analysis of the Photographic Self- Portrait (2017).
He has been nominated for the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize 2022.
